ABOUT FRIENDS OF THE PRESERVE
Friends of The Preserve was created to support the educational goals of The Preserve. Friends of The Preserve is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) and collects donations to support the educational programs and community outreach at The Preserve. The Elephant Experience is hosted by The Preserve and currently receives no funding from the Friends of The Preserve.
Friends of The Preserve was formed by those who wish to preserve and protect the bond between a family of remarkable elephants and the people who have been their companions and caretakers for the past four decades.
Friends of The Preserve will provide the means for the elephant family to thrive in a healthy, active, productive lifestyle and spend their golden years together in peace and comfort. Sharing the wonder of elephants through our outreach programs allows us to educate people about the importance of conservation for this endangered species.
These remarkable Asian elephants are the heart of Friends of The Preserve. The dream for the Friends of The Preserve is to keep this family together by providing a home in our Texas Hill Country. The Preserve, the wonderful place these elephants call home, is where family, elephants and the people who provide their care and companionship live together in a safe, serene environment.
OUR FUTURE LEARNING CENTER NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT FOR:
- Educational opportunities and field trip experiences for school children
- A partner to university veterinary and agricultural programs
- A venue for the education of elephant managers and veterinary professionals
- Internships for the advancement of animal care domestically and internationally

ELEPHANTS’ NATIVE HABITATS ARE UNDER CONSTANT THREAT
Elephants are forced to compete with humans for resources, causing human/elephant conflict where the elephants pay the price. Combined with security threats from poaching, these environmental challenges create a world where the only future for elephants is in managed care. Elephants’ survival depends on nurturing from us, their guardians, and their ability to touch peoples’ lives. Elephants in human care play a significant role in saving this endangered species from extinction.
